LAS VEGAS, NV

The 2006 Olympia convention and competition was held this past weekend in Las Vegas and featured an appearance by WWE champ John Cena. The South Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center was invaded by numerous exhibitors from the fitness industry, including American Body Building (www.americanbodybuilding.com) whose booth hosted Cena’s appearance. The staff of ABB did a fantastic job of handling the crowds and managed to be relaxed and pleasant to everyone despite all of the chaos.

Fans lined up starting at 10:00 am and by Noon the crowd numbered in the high hundreds. People of all ages and sizes were excited to see the WWE superstar. John arrived about 12:15 and seemed in good spirits, despite having just come from a wrestling match the night before. He was really gracious with all the fans in attendance – taking time to sign autographs, take photos and give out hugs to all who took the time to come out to see him. One fan brought her “Cena Bear” (available at www.WWE.com/shop) to get autographed and when she handed it to him, it’s pants fell off! Cena laughed and said “I lost my pants. That’s not the first time that’s happened!”

John was sporting some cuts and scrapes on his hands from his recent visit to a Marines training camp. He sustained some minor injuries from crawling under some barbed wire while training with the group.

Cena’s film THE MARINE is opening on October 13th (see CFM News’ coverage on the film below) and I took to the opportunity to ask John if he was going to do more films. “I hope so” answered the Champ crossing his fingers. “We’ll see how this one does”. With all of the fans turning out to this event just to catch a glimpse of Cena, I don’t think he needs to worry.
