Steve Carell
Warner Bros. Pictures was out in force at the 2007 Comic Con in San
Diego. They brought stars and footage from the upcoming film GET SMART,
which opens next year to share sneak peeks of the film and talk about what
makes this film so good.
Director Peter Segal (50 FIRST DATES) joined actors Steve Carell, Duane “The
Rock” Johnson, Masi Oka, and Ken Davatian during the panel.
Steve Carell said that when he was asked to do the film, he was called to
come to a meeting at Warner Bros. And he thought it was an audition. He
brought his picture and resume with him. There were a lot of people sitting
around a conference table and they asked him to be Maxwell Smart. It was
surreal. He felt is was an honor to be asked to play the part. He hopes that
it turns out like a comedic BOURNE IDENTITY.
Duane Johnson said this is the funniest film he has ever been in. He watched
Steve Carell during the table read for the film and he emailed director
Peter Segal and said that Steve was going to be awesome in this film.
Carell joked that he got to be athletic, coordinated, intelligent and sexy
in this film. None of which he is in real life.
A fan asked Duane “The Rock” Johnson –“How much can you bench press” and
Duane replied jokingly “How much do you weigh?”.
The clips shown of GET SMART look really amazing and with Steve Carell in
it, it is sure to be a big hit. You can check it out for yourself when GET
SMART opens in 2008.
