THE PRESTIGE introduces the audience to Rupert Angier (Jackman) and Alfred Borden (Bale), two magicians in turn of the century England whose bitter rivalry extends for years and leaves them both victims of their own tragedy and deception.

THE PRESTIGE is an enjoyable film. Christopher Nolan once again does a good job of drawing the audience in and keeping them involved in the story. The locations and scenes are well shot, and Nolan understands how to step back and get good performances from his actors.

While I found the script a bit easy to figure out quite quickly, there are enough twists and turns to hold your attention for the majority of the film. There are a couple of scenes near the end where the pace seems to drag a little bit, but, overall it is well written and quite original. The illusions performed by the magicians in the film are fun to watch and lead to some great shots.

The cast is very good and the performances of Christian Bale, Michael Caine and Hugh Jackman in particular are worth the price of admission. Scarlett Johansson seems to be a bit out of her element in this film but if she is the weakest link in the cast I think that says much about the quality of the actors in the film.

One of the most entertaining films throughout that I have seen in some time.
