MISSION IMPOSSIBLE III is a fun, action filled popcorn flick helping to kick off the start of the big Summer movie season.

Capably directed by J.J. Abrams of LOST and ALIAS fame, there is action galore in this nearly non-stop 2 hour plus film.  Abrams adds his trademark humor and ability to work well with actors to bring out the best in them to his advantage in MI:III.  While some of the lines are a bit cliché, many of the funniest moments are almost throw away lines at the end of big scenes.  Keep a look-out or you might miss them!  Another thing that Abrams does very well is using actors that he likes or has worked with again and again in his projects.  (Keep an eye out for Greg Grunberg of ALIAS and LOST in a short scene near the beginning of the film!)

The action sequences are really well choreographed and fast moving.  While violence is alluded to, it is not often shown in graphic detail.  This is why the film earned a PG-13 instead of an R rating, allowing couples with teen and pre-teen aged children to attend as a group.

Tom Cruise does what he does best in this film - make good action movies.  While he might have crossed over from eccentric to out of his tree in real life, he is a bona-fide Movie Star.  Laurence Fishburne is again compelling to watch and delivers his dialogue with a rapid-fire style that highlights his fantastic acting style.  Michelle Monaghan is quite good as Cruise's wife, Julie.  I like that she is not just a woman waiting to be rescued by her man, but actually stands up for herself.  Philip Seymour Hoffman is great as bad-guy Owen Davian.  He is just a really good actor and even in a kind of over the top role such as this, his craft shows through. Also Simon Pegg from SEAN OF THE DEAD is a standout in this film.  He is so funny and steals every scene he is in.

If you are looking for a great story and lots of meaning, this is probably not the film for you.  If you want to go to the cinema to escape for a couple hours with a non-stop action- filled flick, check out MI:III.
