Flightplan

Got to go to a screening of Flightplan starring Jodie Foster, Peter Sarsgaard
and yes you guessed it SEAN BEAN!!!! This was the first test screening they
did and producer Brian Grazer was there as well as many Studio muckey-mucks.

I won't tell you too much of the plot as it has many surprises twists, but
basically the premise is - Lady and her daughter get on the plane and her
daughter disappears mid-flight.

Wow, what a great film this is! The acting for one is outstanding. Knowing
Jodie Foster doesn't work often and when she does she seems to only pick really
good material, I was expecting quite a lot but it did exceed my expectations.
(and, to be fair, Sean in a pilots uniform was plenty for me, there didn't
even need to be dialogue!!!) Lots of suspense, lots of unforeseen twists and
turns left the audience gasping. There is humor, suspense, drama, realism.
Lots of nice touches.

It was really well shot, when the plane takes off and lands you actually kind
of feel like you are on the plane taking off as well, not a good experience
for me or probably for Sean either for that matter but it did work well within
the film. The music was a bit much, I thought it was kind of loud and a bit
melodramatic but this is not a finished work by any means - the film doesn't
open until September. Some of the script was a bit predictable but there was
enough that wasn't to hold interest.

Jodie Foster was, as always, amazing, there were a few too many shots of her
crying, but while it could have turned into a poor woman who can't fend for
herself, she really displays another side and has the audience rooting for her.

Peter Sarsgaard who I am really coming to like quite a bit (Kinsey, Shattered
Glass) is just phenomenal in this film, if this doesn't make him a big star
with big clout I will really be surprised, he is kind of on the Liam Neeson
path I think.

Sean Bean - Well besides the fact that he fills out the pilot's uniform ooooh
sooo nicely, and I would definitely fly more often if he was the pilot if
only to hear his voice over the loudspeaker, but he doesn't like to fly either so
maybe we could hold each others hands and keep calm and......sorry I got
distracted off in the Happy place for a moment. He was, as always, outstanding,
not a bad guy performance for him for a change, but he really showed compassion
and authority in a kind of smaller role in terms of screen time. I heard
lots of people behind me talking about how good they thought he was too! :)

The little girl was the only one I thought could have been a bit stronger, of
course she is 6 years old and has hardly any scenes but I would have liked to
see someone more engaging in the role.

If you have any interest in this film or if you are just looking for
something to do, when this comes out you really owe it to yourself to check it out,
definitely a good time!
